Travelling King - Finance Planner turning holiday dreams into a reality!

Travel Blogger Tell All – Everything Everywhere

Ø Who are you?

My name is Gary Arndt.

Ø Where are you from/Where’s home?

I currently have no home, but I was born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Ø What type of traveller are you? Backpacker, full time traveller, luxury traveller?

I travel full time, but I wouldn’t consider myself a backpacker.

Ø Where was the first trip you took?

I guess when I was very young my family went to Niagara Falls.

Ø Have you had any bad experiences whilst travelling?

Like most travelers I’ve come down with the occasional food poisoning and bad cold.

Ø What is the worst place you’ve travelled to and why?

I don’t really have a best place or a worst place. Every place is different in its own way. It isn’t a matter of better or worst.

Ø Where is your favourite place in the world?

The experiences I have often depends on factors such as who I meet, what I do and the weather. I revisit a place and have a totally different experience.

Ø How do you fund your travels?

I make money from my website and from sponsorships.

Ø What is your most fond memory from your travels?

Standing on a rocky beach with 100,000 penguins on South Georgia Island.

Ø What would you be doing if you weren’t travelling?

I have no idea!

Ø Have you ever experiences any cultural faux pas?

Not many. I did spend over a month saying ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’ in Thai as a woman without anyone correcting me.

Ø What is your Favourite airline?

Singapore Air

Ø Where are you offer to next?

I’m currently on a 3 month road trip through the western United States and Canada. After this I’ll be going to Mexico for Cancun.

Ø What is the name of your travel blog and why did you choose this name?

Everything Everywhere. I thought it summed up my travel goals quite nicely.

Ø When did you start blogging?

I started a personal blog back in 1997 before they were called blogs. My current blog started in 2006.

Ø Why did you start a Travel blog?

To share my travels with others.

Ø What are you tips for new Travel Bloggers?

Don’t expect success overnight. It will take years.

Ø Do you wish you did differently when you started out?

I wish I had jumped on the social media cart sooner.

Ø What has been your most successful blog post and what was it about?

It was an April fool’s day joke where I pretended to marry a ladyboy in Thailand.

Ø What do you do to help make your articles successful?

Take time to create them, take great images and then send it out through your social media channels.

Ø What social media platform is the most helpful for you and why?

Far and away it is Facebook because that is where the people are. Instagram and Pinterest are catching up quickly on a per follower basis. Twitter is easily the worst performing.

Ø Have you worked with any “big name” sponsors, if not who would be your dream to work with?

Yes. I’ve been working with G Adventures as a Wanderer in Residence for over 4 years.

Ø Do you have any tips for new bloggers who want to work with sponsors?

Build an audience first, otherwise you have very little to offer sponsors.

Ø Which travel bloggers do you admire?

There are several:

Shannon O’Donnell
Jodi Ettenberg
Mike Snowden
Tim Leffel
Becki Enright
Abigail King
Just to name a few…

Ø Do you have any advice or tips for aspiring travellers?

Don’t sit around waiting. Start now.

Ø What is your Travel Motto:

The ability to adapt is more important than the ability.

Always love reading some pearls of wisdom from the old hands of Blogging. Love the photos, I can imagine images like that would take a bit of adventuring, trecking & time.
