Travel to Anguilla
Anguilla is known as a British Overseas Territory in the Eastern Caribbean. Which is made up of a small main island and several offshore smaller islands. It’s popular areas include Rendezvous Bay and Saint Martin island.
QUICK ANGUILLA FACTS
Currency: Eastern Caribbean dollar can be withdrawn from ATMs throughout the Anguilla, however keep in mind that smaller cities or towns may not have access to ATMs and its recommended to withdraw cash and take it with you.
Power Points: Most power points are the same as the power points in the USA and Canada (2 vertical prongs). Obviously I would recommend you take a Travel Adapter especially for non USA or Canadian residents.
Official Language: The official language of the Bermuda is English.
Health: There have been reported cased of zika, dengue fever and chikungunya virus in the Anguilla. I would recommend that you contact your doctor a few weeks before you travel as in some cases you need to start any medication a few days before your trip or you may need to get a vaccination.
Drinking Tap Water: The tap water is generally safe to drink, however, if you opting for bottled water is better to be on the safe side.
Visa: Most countries don’t require a visa for short stays, to visit Anguilla.
Popular foods:
– Pigeon Peas and Rice (Anguilla’s national dish is pigeon peas with rice, flavoured with herbs and spices. This dish may be accompanied by meat such as goat, chicken, or seafood).
– Goat Water (Goat water is popular in Anguilla and throughout the Caribbean. This light soup is infused with herbs, goat meat and vegetables).
– Johnny cakes (The ingredients include flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, vegetable oil, cornmeal, and water, made into a smooth dough and then fried).
When to go: From December to April is the ideal time to travel to Anguilla due to the great weather. This time of year is peak tourist season, so that does mean that travellers are likely going to shell out outrageous amounts of money for food and accommodation. May to November is the low season and a much cheaper time to travel, however, the weather might not be ideal.
