Seminyak – Where to stay in Bali for Relaxed Vibes

Also on the Southern side of Bali is Seminyak, here you will find another excellent beach area, perfect for surfing or sunbathing.

The beach offers a great spot for sunset lovers. Seminyak is a little quieter than Kuta but still offers some great entertainment options such as clubs and sleek bars.

Seminyak offer shopping experiences for all from smaller shops to exclusive high end designer shops. Considering Seminyak best places to stay Bali, if you’re wondering where to stay in Bali for a week, in my opinion, Seminyak is the best spot for long term stays.

Why Stay in Seminyak Bali

Right next door to Kunta is Seminyak. Although close in proximity, they are not in vibes. Seminyak has that relaxed beach vibe for those who prefer a relaxing drink on the beach, watching the sun go down.

There are many small shops to peruse as you stroll the quieter streets of this upscale neighbourhood. Watch the surfers as you lounge on the beach, or even give it a try.

Sit and enjoy a coffee at one of the many cafes scattered throughout the neighbourhood. Centrally located on the coast of the major tourist areas for Bali, makes Seminyak a great place to come back to after a long day of touring.

Seminyak in my opinion is the best place to stay in Bali for first-timers, it’s close to most of the fun Bali attractions but not in the middle of Kuta!

Things to do in Seminyak Bali

  • Shopping and Coffee

For a memorable Indonesian shopping experience, take a walk down Jalan Raya, the main shopping street in Seminyak.

An array of vendors selling beautiful jewelry, and wonderfully designed clothes with a sprinkling of Art Galleries and coffee shops to create a complete shopping day.

Go for a spa after a great day of shopping at Seminyak Village or shop and dine at Seminyak Square.

Coffee culture is alive and steaming in Seminyak. Stop in for a custom brew where it all began at Revolver Espresso, one of the first coffee houses in Seminyak.

Have a specialty coffee at Ippolito Specialty Coffee and drink in the atmosphere, as well as the excellent coffee at Pison. Shopping and coffee are great way to spend the day in Seminyak.

Located on the southwest side of Bali, beside the Indian Ocean, sunsets in Seminyak are world-famous.

Pull up a chair at Berawa and Petitenget beaches and watch the sun dip below the horizon in a magnificent array of colours.

Enjoy the sunset while dining on the beach at Chez Gado Gado. Seminyak Beach is a great beach for beginning surfers as it is not as busy, and the surf is a little calmer.

Ubud – Unique places to stay in Bali

Ubud is a small town in the hills in Bali, it offers an alternative to the tropical beach scene with a view of the jungle/rainforest!

The area also features rich vegetative river valleys and rice terraces and rice patties fields with Hindu temples and shrines dotted around. Ubud is a little far from Kuta and the more “exciting scene”, approx an hour drive from the airport.

It is currently home to one of Bali’s royal family, where you can visit their palace in the centre of town. World-class and fine dining restaurants are adjacent to casual cafes; royal palaces, heritage museums and art galleries.

The nightlife scene here is low-key, making this area perfect for honeymooners, families or people who want to enjoy Bali’s beauty in peace, I think it’s one of the best place to stay in Bali.

Why Stay in Ubud

Unique and diverse makes for an excellent travel destination. In Bali, you can find it in Ubud. Tour the Royal Palace or be enchanted by a waterfall in the rainforest.

Feel the serenity of the many temples in the area, and visit the monkeys at Ubud Monkey Forest. View the picturesque terraced landscapes of Tegallalang Rice Terrace and.

Take a walk on the unique boardwalk of Campuhan Ridge Walk. Interesting, unique and diverse, Ubud will keep you moving and in awe every minute you are there.

Things To Do in Ubud

There are a plethora of temples in Ubud to visit. Temples that are hundreds of years old to those that are thousands of years old. Most temples today are still used in holy rituals, so please be considerate as you enter these shrines.

Goa Gajah Temple is unique in the fact that the entrance to the cave is decorated. When entering, it looks like you are entering through an elephant’s belly. Incense burns from the basket as you enter this unusual but beautiful temple.

Saraswati Water Temple in central Ubud will have you in awe as soon as you get to the doors. Ornately detailed, this is the beginning of a fascinating tour of this distinct temple.

Watch a traditional Kecak Dance at Pura Dalem Taman Kaja Temple in Junjungan village. Experience the culture and history of Indonesia by visiting the temples of Ubad.

  • Enjoy the Nature of the Rainforest

Have you ever dreamed about standing by a waterfall in the middle of the jungle? About a 30-minute drive from Ubud is Tegenungan Waterfall.

Deep in the rainforest but only a 5 min walk from the entrance is a canopy-encased waterfall. Sit on the pebbly beach of the pool below and listen to the water crash as it seems to pour out of the rocks.

At the entrance are shops and a restaurant to round out your visit to Tegenungan Waterfall. For the love of birds, take a walking tour with Bali Bird Walks or a walk along the Campuhan Ridge Trail for some beautiful views. Ubud is a great jungle retreat for those that love being in nature.

  • Ubud Monkey Forest

Home to over 700 long-tailed macaques, this sanctuary and research area is also referred to as Sacred Monkey Forest.

Go on a tour with a local guide to learn the history of both the sacred monkeys and the temples and historical sites within this part of the forest.

Offering sites such as the 14th century Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal with its low canopy and dense foliage hiding statues of dragons and relics giving you that ancient jungle vibe. A wonderful and enchanting way to spend the day in Ubud.
