Flight Review – Singapore Airlines Adelaide to Rome return

After my flight from Adelaide to Singapore and our Business class flights with Singapore airlines I was hooked! I initially booked from flight from Adelaide to Rome with Emirates but decided to cancel and go with Singapore Airlines as i knew what to expect with the flights and the amazing service.

This is my review of each leg of my flights (4 in total):

Adelaide to Singapore

Flight time: approx 7 hours and 20 minutes

Stop over time: approx 1 hour.

Flight number: SQ 276

Check in:

The check in process for fairly quick and there was no long line which was lovely. The staff member was very friend and professional and off my bags went.

Seats:

I was in a 2 seater by the window, the seat itself was fairly comfortable, I find that Singapore Airlines has enough cushioning for the seat to be comfortable for long flights, its not like sitting on a rock. The TV unit and remote is in the back of the seat which means it doesn’t take up much space, next to the Tv is a small cup holder which is handy if you need to go to the bathroom and don’t want to finish your drink. There was even a little foot rest that popped down under the seat in front.

As it was a Christmas flight (during the Christmas period), Singapore airlines put up cute little Christmas decorations around the plane.

Entertainment:

As mentioned the TV was in the back of the seat in front of you so it was at a good angle to watch (unless the person in front leans back too much). There were a total of 287 movies and 378 TV shows to watch, 804 songs and 23 radio channels to listen to, 80 games and 20 applications. More than enough to keep me entertained for the long flight.

The movies varied from new releases, Hollywood blockbusters, Chinese movies and European movies. There were also plenty of things for the kids to do and watch, I was tempted to watch some cartoons but was too entertained by the blockbuster movies.

You can also follow along with your flight through the flight tracker. It’s interesting to be able to look out of the window and then back to the flight tracker to see where you are.

The provided headphones never seem to fit me as I have a particularly small head. I would recommend purchasing an adaptor if you want to use your own headphones.

Food:

The drinks menu was very extensive (for an air plane) and there were plenty of snacks to keep you from starving, however, the meals provided were massive, so snacks weren’t really needed!

Dinner:

Smoked salmon with potato salad was an entrée

Bush tomato chicken with sautéed vegetables and roasted potatoes

Cheese and crackers

Ice cream ( a mini magnum)

Roll and butter

Coffee and teas

Late snack:

Fried rice with chicken and shrimp

Coffee and tea

Service:

The service from check in and throughout the flight was excellent, the flight attendants ensured everyone was well fed and had enough to drink, they always had a smile on their face and were always friendly and professional.

Flight goodies:

On this flight I received a pillow and blanket and a little goodie bag of a toothbrush, toothpaste and socks.

Singapore to Rome

Flight time: approx 12 hours and 12 minutes

Flight number: SQ 366

Seats:

I had a seat next to the window which was nice, I love being able to watch what we are flying over, the seats as always are very comfortable on Singapore Airlines.

The seat in front of me had the Tv and 2 small compartments to store small things.

Entertainment:

The entertainment system was the same set up as the previous flight in the back of the seat however the TV was smaller.

Food:

Breakfast:

Fruit slices

Fruit yoghurt

Braised ee-fu noodles with chicken and leafy greens

Breakfast roll, butter and fruit jam

Coffee and tea

Service:

The service  on the flight was excellent as always, the flight attendants ensured everyone was well fed and had enough to drink, they always had a smile on their face and were always friendly and professional.

Flight goodies:

On this flight I received a pillow and blanket and a little goodie bag of a toothbrush, toothpaste and socks.

RETURN:

Rome to Singapore

Flight time: approx 12 hours and 12 minutes

Stop over time: approx. 2 hours

Flight number: SQ 365

Check in:

I thought I’d be cheeky and see if I could get an upgrade form economy to business class and asked at the gate desk, the lovely ladies had a look and were unable to accommodate my request however they did move me from the back of the plane to the front of economy where I got the bulk head seat which was very nice.

Seats:

The seats were comfortable for the longer flight however did find the TV remote was in the wrong spot, it was located on the inside of the seat where I kept bumping it and changing channels mid-way through my movie.

Entertainment:

The entertainment system popped out from down the side of my chair and had to be store during take-off and landing (which means you might not be able to finish watching your movie). It was easy to navigate through via a hand held remote control located on the inside of the chair.

Food:

Lunch:

Praga ham with waldorf salad

Braised beef in red wine with roasted vegetables and mashed potato

Cheese and crackers

Ice cream

Rolle and butter

Coffee and tea

Breakfast:

Fruit piece

Fruit yoghurt

Stir fried egg noodles with pork and vegetables

Breakfast roll, butter and jam

Coffee and tea

Service:

The service on the flight was excellent! While I was “upgraded” to a better seat I was unfortunately put next to a man who was smoking one of the electronic cigarettes, on a trip to the bathroom I informed one of the flight attendants who advised the rest of the crew and they made sure to regularly check on me. The crew leader spoke to the man to advise is was legal to smoke on the flight even with an electric cigarette, however didn’t seem to stop the gentleman, none the less the crew offered to move me to a different seat and checked on me regularly which I appreciated.

Flight goodies:

On this flight I received a pillow and blanket and a little goodie bag of a toothbrush, toothpaste and socks.

Singapore to Adelaide

Flight time: approx 7 hours and 20 minutes

Plane type – Boeing 777-300

Flight number: SQ 277

Seats:

The seats were comfortable for the longer flight, I slept through most of the flight. I find getting a window seat provides for great views as well as a good spot for you to rest your pillow without having your head at an awkward angle.

Food:

Lunch:

Mediterranean cucumber salad with seafood

Poached chicken with mushroom veloute with sautéed spinach and potatoes

Cheese and crackers

Ice cream

Roll and butter

Coffee and tea

Service:

The service on all of my flights was excellent, I constantly felt cared for and safe.

Flight goodies:

On this flight I received a pillow and blanket and a little goodie bag of a toothbrush, toothpaste and socks.
