Pattaya is a city on Thailand’s eastern Gulf coast and is very known with tourists for its beaches. It used to be a quiet fishing village in the 60s but now it’s beaches are lined with resort hotels, high-rise condos, shopping malls, cabaret bars and 24-hour clubs. Nearby, hillside Wat Phra Yai Temple features an 18m-tall golden Buddha. The area also features several designer golf courses, some with views of Pattaya Bay.
Quick note: Prices will obviously vary from high season to low season, in some cases by almost 50%! Low tourist season is from May to October and high tourist season is November to April. Personally, I think Phuket is the best in October as it is the last month of the low season and there doesn’t seem to be much rain to ruin your holiday.
We will cover off all types of Pattaya accommodation options from Hostels to luxury Pattaya hotels as well as how to decide where to stay in Pattaya, the best Pattaya hotels, best places in Pattaya to visit, the best places to stay in Pattaya, hotels near Pattaya attractions, Pattaya neighborhood guide and many more.

Party Central:
Pattaya Beach – Where to stay in Pattaya for nightlife
Pattaya Beach runs along 4km of Thailand’s eastern Gulf coastline and is arguably the most well-known area of Central Pattaya. This popular destination in Thailand offers a lot of things to do from sunbathing to shopping to partying.
This area is usually packed with people, as it is one of the top tourist destinations in Thailand, Pattaya beach road is also very popular with tourists. Although Pattaya isn’t known as a retail hub, Pattaya Beach has several large malls that attract a crowd of both locals and visitors, which makes it a perfect place to stay for nightlife in Pattaya.
Pattaya Beach may not be the ideal place to bring children at night, as it becomes a partying scene, but during the day there are several exciting attractions like Ripley’s Believe it or Not and The Teddy Bear Museum as well as a few cool floating restaurants. Pattaya beach is the best place to stay in Pattaya for nightlife.

Walking Street – Best place to stay in Pattaya for single people
Walking Street (also known as soi buakhao) is located just at the end of Beach Road in South Pattaya near Pattaya Beach. If your favorite thing to do when visiting a new city is to experience its nightlife, then Walking Street is the place for you. It is the most popular party destination in Thailand, with only a few areas of Bangkok measuring up. Walking Street is the “red-light district” in Pattaya that’s illuminated by the glowing neon signs of the endless go-go bars, beer bars, nightclubs and restaurants.
Walking Street largely attracts an international crowd, but locals visit, as well. The entire street is closed to road traffic in the evenings, which means it’s full of people and the shops are so densely packed that you could spend all night bar-hopping. Walking street is similar to Bangla Road in Patong Phuket.

Naklua and Wong Amat Beaches – Where to stay in Pattaya for couples
Pattaya is mostly known for its beaches and luckily for tourists, there are several to choose from. While Pratumnak is a cozy, tucked away beach, Naklua and Wong Amat Beaches are quite the opposite. Located to the north of Pattaya City, Naklua and Wong Amat Beaches are an enticing mix of local culture and a booming tourist industry.
While high-rise hotels line the coast, there are also small fishing communities in the area that provide fresh produce for the best restaurants in the area. The beaches in these areas are by far some of the nicest in Pattaya, with their clear blue waters and soft white sand. Many areas of Pattaya are taken over with tourists, Naklua and Wong Amat beaches give you the opportunity to experience local culture without fighting through the crowds.

Jomtien Beach – Where to stay in Pattaya with family
Jomtien Beach is a more subdued alternative to Pattaya Beach. Older travellers, families and people who simply aren’t a fan of an overwhelming nightlife presence prefer Jomtien Beach.
Located directly below Pattaya Beach, Jomtien Beach has so much to offer. The actual beach is nice because it’s not as crowded as Pattaya Beach and the area is generally much cheaper. Some of the most famous attractions are the world-renowned Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden, the Floating Market, Buddha Mountain, Underwater World and the Cultural Center Viharn Sien.
If you want to explore Pattaya with fewer crowds and is considered the best place to stay in Pattaya with family, Jomtien offers everything- cultural and religious experiences, family-friendly attractions and exciting markets. There are even unique attractions like the Floating Market, where over 114 vendors sell goods from either boats or shops on stilts and sometimes even perform cultural arts demonstrations.
