Best Day Trips from Krabi
Krabi is often described as the most relaxing spot in Thailand, and that’s saying a lot, considering Thailand has some 8,000 tropical islands! Located along the Southwest coast on the Andaman Sea, Krabi is best known for beaches, islands, lush jungles and dramatic cliffs.
Krabi Town is the hub of the province and the launching point for many excursions into the nearby jungles and islands. Krabi airport can be reached via flights from Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Four Island Tour
One of the most popular day trips from Krabi is the Four Island Tour. Traveling by speedboat or traditional longtail boat, you will spend the entire day visiting four islands of Krabi (Chicken Island, Koh Tub, Koh Poda and Koh Mor) and enjoying the clear waters of the Andaman Sea.
Most tours include snorkel equipment and a lunch on-board the boat, and sometimes will also include pickup and drop-off at your Krabi hotel.
The Four Island Tour is a great way to sample several of Thailand’s tropical islands all in one day.

Koh Phi Phi
One of the most famous islands in Thailand is Koh Phi Phi. Beginning with “The Beach” starring Leonardo DiCaprio in 2000, and seen on countless postcards and screen-savers, Koh Phi Phi is just 45 minutes by speedboat or 90 minutes by ferry from Krabi. Ferries are large and inexpensive, holding 200-300 passengers.
Speedboat is obviously the faster option, and more private but it will cost you more. Also traveling by a chartered speedboat means you can be dropped off somewhere other than the ferry docks if you want to try and avoid crowds.
Remember, Koh Phi Phi is also a popular day trip from Phuket, so solitude is not likely to be found at Koh Phi Phi!

Hong Island
For a quieter escape from Krabi, consider a day trip to Hong Island. Koh Hong can be reached from Krabi very easily. Koh Hong is just 20 minutes from Ao Nang by speedboat, or 45 minutes by traditional longtail boat.
The Hong Islands are part of the National Marine Park and the main island of Koh Hong is uninhabited and therefore a great place for wildlife spotting.
The island has both sandy beaches and striking cliffs that rise out of the sea. Hong Island is a great place for a kayak excursion, which can be booked on a tour from Krabi, or you can simply rent sea kayaks on your own when you arrive at Hong Beach.

Emerald Pool & Hot Springs
A popular day trip within the Krabi province is to visit the Emerald Pool and Krabi Hot Springs. A visit to these two destinations are often offered in a combination tour that includes transportation and hotel pickup.
The Emerald Pool is a cool natural spring you reach after a 2km hike, with a Blue Lagoon pool another 30 minutes walk.
The Krabi Hot Springs have soaking tubs carved into the surrounding stone where you can enjoy the thermal waters reaching up to 40 degrees.
Many tours will include both stops, plus lunch, or you can hire a car and go on your own.

Koh Rok
Koh Rok is another option for a day trip from Krabi. Koh Rok is a popular snorkel destination, with several tour operators offering snorkel tours from Krabi to Koh Rok. Koh Rok has been called one of the best snorkeling spots in Southern Thailand.
A day trip to Koh Rok is usually combined with a visit to Koh Ha, two islands in the Mu Koh Lanta National Park. The clear water here contains many coral reefs to explore on a snorkel trip.

Ao Thalane
Ao Thalane is a beautiful bay in Krabi Province, which has become a sea kayaking destination in Krabi. A mangrove forest makes Ao Thalane a unique destination from the dozens of other beaches in proximity to Krabi.
Tour vendors line up at the beach offering guided tours, so do some research ahead of time to decide the right tour for you.
For an extra price, you can also hire a private guide to take your group around, but it’s helpful to have someone along who knows the area.

Railay Beach
Railay Beach is a hot spot for rock climbing, and a great day trip from Krabi. Railay Beach is on a peninsula between Ao Nang and Krabi Town, but no roads go through the mountains so a bot is your only option.
The boat trip from Krabi Town to Railay takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Railay, you can walk everywhere, as there are no roads or cars.
The beaches at Railay are relaxed and less of a party vibe than other Thailand beaches, but hospitality services are available. There are also several caves at Railay, including Princess Cave, with its collection of wooden phallic symbols.
