Old Town – Where to Stay in Podgorica with Family
Podgorica Montenegro received heavy bombing from both sides during WWII, so the Old Town area is not as well-preserved as the Old Town of other European capitals.
However, the ruins are interesting to explore, and there are a few tourist attractions scattered throughout the area.
Travelers seeking a family-friendly location in Podgorica will appreciate being so close to King’s Park, which separates Old Town from the city center.
It’s one of the largest and best parks in the city, with a really lovely playground for children. This is the best area for tourists who want to be within walking distance of the city center but prefer quiet surroundings.

Novi Grad – Where to Stay in Podgorica for Tourists
Across the river from Old Town is the Podgorica neighborhood of Novi Grad or New Town. This area, too, has many parks and several Podgorica hotels with easy access to Old Town and the city center via the Blažo Jovanović bridge.
One of the main tourist attractions in this area is the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.
From a beautiful, but unassuming exterior, you will marvel at the colorful details inside the church.
Even if you do not choose to stay in Novi Grad, you will want to visit the neighborhood to see this church and to explore the streets and cafes in the “new” part of town.
