Taipa is the district just north of Coati and the location of the Macau International Airport. Taipa is often referred to as Taipa Village, and it’s a well-preserved Portuguese-style village just minutes from the glamour of the Coati strip.
This is a great place to take a break from gambling and learn about the cultural history of Macau, including Portuguese and Chinese influences.
There are hidden gardens scattered throughout, and many authentic restaurants to sample. Some Coati hotels are in walking distance of Taipa, while others will offer a free shuttle.

Cotai is the main street running through the best area of Macau, so staying along the Cotai strip is very similar to staying along the Strip in Las Vegas.

Just south of the Cotai area is the very green district of Coloane. If you are wondering where to stay in Macau with family, Coloane is perfect.
This lush region is filled with beaches and hiking trails. This is the least developed area of Macau, and there are fewer hotels here, but if you are not looking for gambling or nightlife, but prefer a more scenic and active vacation, then Coloane is a great option.
