Raigmore – Where to stay in Inverness with family

On the grounds of the former Raigmore Estate, the Inverness district of Raigmore is a residential area just east of the city centre. It is now best known as the location of Raigmore Hospital, with several businesses such as hotels and restaurants to serve the staff and guests of the hospital.

The Inverness Golf Club is also nearby, and with several parks in the area, Raigmore is a family-friendly choice for accommodation near Inverness. For access to the city centre, buses run every 15-20 minutes or you can take a taxi in less than ten minutes.

Dalneigh – Where to stay in Inverness with kids

Just west of the city centre lies the area of Dalneigh, a sliver of land between the River Ness and the Caledonian Canal. With a primary school and a large swath of parkland along the canal, this area is largely residential, although travelers will find several guest houses in lieu of hotels near Inverness.

The city centre is about a 20-minute walk, or one can take a bus in about the same amount of time. As a family-friendly neighborhood, you’ll find plenty of grocery stores and convenient shopping nearby, making this a great choice for an extended stay near Inverness.

Merkinch – Where to stay in Inverness on a budget

North of the city centre is the area called Merkinch, a working-class suburb of Inverness. It’s one of the oldest parts of Inverness and lies between the Caledonian Canal and the River Ness. It remains one of the poorer areas around Inverness, but backpackers looking for budget-friendly accommodation near Inverness might find a suitable hotel or flat to rent. Culduthel – Where to stay in Inverness for relaxation

South of Inverness lies the suburban area of Culduthel. This is a great place to stay if you are planning many day trips throughout the Scottish Highlands and would like a quiet place to retreat in the evening. It is largely residential, with few tourist attractions, but the location is conveniently halfway between Inverness and Loch Ness.

It is also right between the A82 and the A9 for each access to other areas of northern Scotland. Largely residential and suburban, the area is family-friendly, with parks and playgrounds, shopping and dining throughout the neighborhood.
