Where to Stay in Bermuda [Best Places to Stay for 2024]

Bermuda is a self-governing British overseas territory located in the North Atlantic Ocean. The island is relatively small at only 21 square miles and is shaped like a fishhook, consisting of an archipelago of 7 main islands, connected via bridges and causeways, with around another 170 islets, rocks and tiny islands, each with their own name.

The Gulf Stream and the Bermuda-Azores High help to keep the climate temperate, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the sub-tropical surroundings and some of the beautiful pink sand beaches.

Bermuda is often considered to be the shipwreck capital of the world, so if you are into snorkelling or scuba diving, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Bermuda is spilt into nine parishes from West to East: Sandy’s, Southampton, Warwick, Paget, Pembroke, Devonshire, Smith’s, Hamilton (parish) and St George’s. The city of Hamilton is based in Pembroke Parish.

Areas to avoid in Bermuda

Bermuda is generally a safe place for tourists so there are very few places to avoid. In Hamilton City, perhaps avoid the back end of the town late at night, near Court Street. However, this is not a tourist area so you should not have a need to wander over here.

The sensible advice would be to avoid any parks, or unlit areas late at night, and not to leave bags unattended at the beach/bar, just the same as you would in any other destination.

Bermuda is an idyllic island offering a wide range of activities for families, couples or groups. There are many options for lodging on the island, but whatever neighbourhood you choose to stay in, travelling to other parts of the island is easy by taxi, ferry or bus.

There are plenty of hotels in Bermuda and some of the larger hotels and resorts offer all-inclusive options, but if you are wondering where to stay in Bermuda on a budget, there are plenty of guesthouses with affordable rates that can be found in the parishes of Southampton, Warwick or Paget.

With its beautiful pink-sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and plentiful restaurants and bars—not to mention nature parks galore—it is no wonder that the island is a tourist hot spot.
