Ayutthaya Kingdom -The Ancient Capital of Bangkok

Ayutthaya Kingdom -The Ancient Capital of Bangkok (PHOTO BLOG)

The Ayutthaya Kingdom was the ancient capital of Bangkok, it has incredible architecture from the 1351 to the 1767, most building still standing now in 2013! The history behind this kingdom is very rich, is what made Bangkok what it is today. Bang Pa-In Palace also known as the Summer Palace, is located in the King Ayutthaya Kingdom. Prasat Thong originally constructed the complex in 1632, and though it lay empty and overgrown throughout the late 18th and early 19th centuries, King Mongkut began to restore the site in the mid-19th century. Most of the present buildings were constructed between 1872 and 1889 by King Chulalongkorn. Shangri-La Bangkok Hotel Review

Shangri-La Bangkok Hotel Review

We took a taxi to the Shangri-la Bangkok hotel from Banyan Tree (we change hotels for a different view). The taxi took us to the Shangri-la Bangkok hotel instead of the Krungthep Wing of the Shangri-la Bangkok. Check in was quick, Frank the Operations manager introduced himself and offered his help during our stay. Ayutthaya Kingdom -The Ancient Capital of Bangkok

A Historic Tour of Ayutthaya – The Ancient Ruins City

Ayutthaya is an ancient capital city (the capital city of Thailand before it was destroyed and Bangkok was built as the new capital). It all came to an end when the Burmese invaded Ayutthaya in 1767 and almost completely burnt the city down to the ground. Its all ruins now. It would have been such a sight to see when it is was in its glory days! Amazing architecture! We started at Bang Pa-In Royal Palace also known as the Summer Palace. King Prasat Thong originally constructed the complex in 1632, and though it lay empty and overgrown throughout the late 18th and early 19th centuries, King Mongkut began to restore the site in the mid-19th century. The Pool at the Banyan Tree Resort Bangkok

Banyan Tree Resort Bangkok – Hotel Review

Banyan Tree Resort Bangkok is not really in the best place for tourists but it is in the best place for relaxation, located in the financial district means that you need to catch a taxi or go for a long walk to get to the "tourist areas", but I found it relaxing here as we were able to sit by the pool and watch the city go by.
