A Guide to the Top Rooftop Bars and Hottest Restaurants in Bangkok

When I think of where the Hottest Bars and Restaurants are, Bangkok comes to mind.

Bangkok has an incredible Bar and Restaurants scene, from small niche bars to bars and restaurants on the rooftops of great hotels! Bangkok’s nightlife hasn’t been short of anything but exciting and eventful with bars and clubs popping up in every corner, deep streets and even high up above the city. Lately the latter have been becoming increasingly popular in the form of rooftop bars.
Set against beautiful skyline, rooftop bars are a great way to spend a night with friends, family and that significant other. Here a few that I have visited and really enjoyed, although there are many more

Here’s our Top 10 Hottest Bar and Restaurant in Bangkok

The Nest Bangkok

The Nest is a very modern rooftop lounge; it’s located on the 8th floor of the Le Fenix Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 11. But people don’t go for the view, they go for the atmosphere.
This open air lounge offers a great select of food with tapas starting at 80baht and mains starting at 130 Baht. They also offer seriously huge cocktails for a great price.
There is plenty of seating avail with some of the seating is based on “a nest”” – huge wicker day beds! If you are not lucky enough to score one of these, they have plenty of comfortable sofas all around.

Opening times –6pm til 2am
Location – above Le Fenix Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 11 (For the Skytrain, take the train to NANA station and go to exit No. 3.)
Dress Code – Smart Casual, no shorts or sandals.

Wine Pub

This is the first “Wine Pub” (which is a tavern/pub setting that focuses on wine) in Bangkok, located at the Pullman’s hotel. They offer a great selection of tapas, cold cuts, salads, pasta and a massive cheese bar to enjoy. They have a large selection of splendid wines at fantastic prices.
This Wine pub is reasonably priced, the staffs are fantastic and you get a restaurant/pub with something a little different!

Opening times – 6.00 pm – 2.00 am daily
Location – 2nd floor of Pullman Bangkok King Power 8/2 Rangnam Road, Thanon-Phayathai,
Ratchathewi. (For the Skytrain, take the train to Victory Monument station)

Vertigo and Moon Bar Rooftop Bar and Restaurant

Take in the Stunning views of Bangkok’s vast city from 61 floors above! Banyan tree’s Vertigo and moon bar, provide a unique experience, where you are welcomed by a fresh light breeze (which is a lovely surprise on a hot night) and a nice icy col, freshly made cocktail by the roof top open-air grill and bar. Dine on a set or al a carte menu, there is no shortage of Western or Thai options plus you get a cute little flashlight to read the menu as the lighting isn’t the best (so you are able to enjoy the views better).

Vertigo and Moon Bar’s speciality cocktail is a “Vertigo Sunset” which is made up of Malibu, Pineapple Juice, Cranberry Juice and Lime Juice.
If you are unfortunate enough to be caught in the rain, the restaurant and bar will not be open, instead you will be relocate to one of their other restaurants which (don’t worry!) still has a great view of the city.

Opening times –Vertigo: 6:00pm to 11:00pm daily & Moon Bar: 5:00pm to 1:00am daily

Sirocco and Sky Bar Rooftop Bar and Restaurant

Sirocco and Sky Bar are in competition with Vertigo and Moon bar for the Best rooftop bar (in my opinion)! These 2 great properties are located just down the road from one another. Sky bar has an edge over Vertigo as the Sky Bar has city and river views. It’s located on the 63rd floor at The Dome at Lebua. Sirocco and Sky Bar has a little bit more room to move around than Vertigo but each has its own charm.

The Sirocco restaurant and Sky Rooftop Bar is featured in “The Hangover Part II”, very funny movie!

Opening times – 6pm – 1am daily
Location – 63rd floor of 1055 State Tower, Silom Rd, Bangkok 10500, Thailand

Above Eleven

Perched 32 floors on top of the Fraser Suites is the aptly named “Above 11” as it overlooks Sukhumvit soi 11. This is in my opinion one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok in terms of value for money. The place mimics a rooftop garden or park that is matched perfectly well with a sunset view.

Apart from great cocktails and drinks, which are categorized by creative price ranges, the place is well-known for its Peruvian cuisine. My favourite whenever I visit is the Aroz Con Pollo with a Mojito or a glass of white wine.

Hot tip: book a few days in advance because this busy almost every day.

Opening times – 6pm – 2am daily
Location – 33rd floor of the Fraser Suites Sukhumvit, Sukhumvit Rd. Soi 11 neighborhood.
Dress code – Semi-casual

Octave Rooftop Bar & Lounge

Sometimes rooftops bars are created on top of hotels or apartments after they are built. This is not the case with Octave Rooftop Bar & Lounge, which was created in mind while the Marriott Sukhumvit Hotel was being built.

Octave’s best feature is that it has four levels with the highest one being a 360 degree view rooftop deck.
Although the drinks are quite expensive, the bar has a happy hour from 5 pm – 8 pm with buy 1 get 1 free on signature cocktails and the view more than makes up for it. It’s worth a visit at least once for the sheer magnificence of the venue.

Opening times – 6pm – 1am daily
Location 45 – 49 floors of the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, 2 Sukhumvit Road Soi 57 Bangkok, 10110
Dress code – “Dressy”

Park Society

Moving away from Sukhumvit and towards Sathon, you can witness a different kind of view from Park Society of the green Lumpini Park from the 29th floor of the So Sofitel.
The bar has a good variety of cocktails that are well priced and also features a cocktail of the month at a discounted rate. You can also find a selection of delicious tapas and if you are looking for a nice meal, the restaurant is just a few feet away inside the hotel.

Opening times – (daily)

Cloud 47

Moving a bit further towards Silom, if you want a change from the typical rooftop scene in Bangkok, give Cloud 47 a try. Instead of being on top of a hotel, this one is located above an office building (United Center tower). Don’t let that drive you away though because Cloud 47 offers a more Thai-style experience. The prices are very affordable with casual setting and beer towers you can only find at beer gardens.
Actually that’s exactly what it does, a beer garden with Thai food and cocktails on a massive 47th floor. It’s perfect for a large group party.

Opening times – 5pm – 1am daily
Location – 47th Floor, United Center Building (Office Zone), Silom, Bangkok, Thailand 10120
Dress code – Casual
Cover charge – nil

Horizons at Heaven

Horizon at Heaven can be found on top of Central World Mall on the 19th floor. Although not as high as other competitors, it doesn’t lack the “wow factor”. The seating area is enormous with plenty of tables and chairs to enjoy your meals or cocktails. Horizon also now offers weekly specials at a 30% discount so make sure you check them out on their Facebook page.
On the night I went, there were some interesting themed performances you won’t find anywhere else that are worth checking out.

Opening times –5:30pm til late
Location – ZEN World, Levels 18, 19 (Access at Level 18, beside Shintori)
Dress code – Smart Casual

Cabbages and Condoms (C&C)

Cabbages and Condoms has attracted international attention as it’s uniquely decorated with condoms from all over the world plus messages and photos that support family planning. Cabbages and Condoms motto is our food is guaranteed not to cause pregnancy! Conveniently located near one of Bangkok’s main business districts, C&C is big with locals and travllers alike.
You can choose to sit in the open area under the colourfully lit canopy on the deck or in one of our many air-conditioned rooms.

Opening times – 11am – 10pm daily
Location – 6 Sukhumvit Soi 12, Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
Dress code – Smart casual

  5. 19 March, 2014 / 6:00 pm

Hi, I’d update this list if I were you. For starters, BED Supperclub is closed. How about a top rooftop bar post? I can help you with that since I go to almost all of them in town! 🙂

  6. 10 April, 2014 / 7:41 pm

Cool article. Bangkok has got to be my favorite place for quirky restaurants too. Next time you’re there check out Kratong Flying Chicken, Cabbages and Condoms, Hajime Robot Restaurant, and the Baiyoke Buffet on the 83rd floor of the Baiyoke Sky Hotel 🙂

    • 15 April, 2014 / 9:05 pm

      hey Miles!
      Thanks for the great tips!
Woudl love to come back soon

  7. 6 May, 2014 / 5:45 pm

What a nice list! Although, we visited Banyan Tree’s Vertigo and Moon Bar twice recently, and we actually found the service to be horrendous. Very very slow and not what you would expect when paying around 500 baht a cocktail. In both instances they added extra drinks onto our tabs, and to correct the mistakes took almost 30 minutes. Luckily the beautiful views distracted Angela’s family, who were visiting from the US. Your list has given us some great looking alternatives for the next time we are in Bangkok. Thank you so much for introducing us to some new spots . Sirocco and Sky Bar have caught our eye…especially since you say there is more room to move around 🙂

    • 6 May, 2014 / 6:37 pm

      Hey Angela & Chris
      thanks so much!
oh really!! that’s horrible to hear, i loved our time there – the service was fantastic.
Sky bar really does have a lot more room – check it out next time

  8. 6 May, 2014 / 8:33 pm

Until recently I didn’t even know there was so many good rooftop bars in Bangkok. I visited the city a few years ago and wasn’t overly taken by it but maybe if I had visited a few of these i would have enjoyed myself more.

  9. 7 May, 2014 / 6:55 am

I would love to drink/eat at any one of those roof top bars! They look so luxurious. I wonder if I could actually afford them. . . I know I wouldn’t be able to if they were in Vegas.

  10. 7 May, 2014 / 8:01 pm

I have been to only the Sirocco and Sky Bar (the one from the Hangover movie), but if I lived in Bangkok I would check out all of them! I love rooftop bars and Bangkok is amazing from above. Thanks for assembling these bars together, I saved this post for a future visit to one of my favorite cities in the world!

  11. 8 May, 2014 / 1:58 am

I want to try each and every one. So cool! What views & what atmosphere. A very handy guide to anyone visiting Bangkok.

  12. 10 May, 2014 / 2:51 am

What better way to celebrate an anniversary or just have a relaxing meal with a loved one that taking a seat at the top of a gorgeous restaurant with stunning views over a city. This is a really great collection of options here with a variety of cuisines. I am not a fond lover of Thai food, ok so I honestly don’t like it but that is probably because I have only sampled the Americanized Thai versions rather than authentic cuisine in Thailand.

Great review of these gorgeous rooftop bars/restaurants!

  13. 12 May, 2014 / 12:19 pm

    Hi Pete,

Never been to Bangkok … well I’ve never been anywhere, really 😉 This is about to change and I guess I’ll have to add Bangkok to my growing list of places to visit. I’m sure I’d fall in love with the food.

Anyway, thanks for the pics. The views are amazing and I’m certainly sold.

    • 14 May, 2014 / 8:51 pm

      Hey Craig!
      thanks for stopping by!
Get to Bangkok, its amazing – food, culture, people! the views!

  14. 12 May, 2014 / 10:21 pm

The Wine Pub looks to be most my speed. Noted and bookmarked. 🙂

  15. 28 May, 2014 / 12:16 pm

I’ve always wanted to visit the Sky Bar at Sirocco since I saw it in The Hangover! I was gutted that I didn’t know about it when I was in Thailand. There’s always the next time!

    • 5 June, 2014 / 2:40 pm

oh no thats no good – oh well another excuse to go back to Bangkok

  16. 24 June, 2014 / 10:03 pm

I can’t wait to try at least one if these when we go in September! Thanks for updating the list, it’s really helpful!

  17. 3 August, 2014 / 5:04 pm

It’s a great selection to get away for the shady Khaosan road most travelers/backpackers end up !

    • 4 August, 2014 / 1:00 pm

      Hey Cindy,
Exactly. We enjoy the finer things in life (a touch of lucury), these bars are great for that

  18. 13 September, 2014 / 1:00 pm

That’s one wild town Bangkok but I agree with you, some of the craziest bars in Asia.

  19. 15 September, 2014 / 6:16 pm

LOL food guarantees not to cause pregnancy–that’s certainly an interesting slogan, and I guess they can’t get in trouble for false advertising…I’m not currently planning a trip there, but was still cool to see the pictures and read about the different options.

  20. 16 September, 2014 / 4:33 pm

Wow, a few of these I’ve definitely bookmarked for later. Adore a good rooftop bar, its got a whole thing going on way & above the usual. Great write up.

  21. 16 September, 2014 / 11:01 pm

These roof top bars look amazing. I would definitely try to visit them all. Thumbs up from condoms is creepy. Heck, the whole condom sign is creepy.

  22. 16 September, 2014 / 11:01 pm

These are great ideas and really lovely pictures. I haven’t made it to Thailand yet but I hope to get there one day.

  23. 16 September, 2014 / 11:37 pm

Wow, that’s a very thorough list, kudos! We have yet to visit Thailand, but if we’re ever in Bangkok we’re definitely checking out a few (if not all) of those places – although the Wine Pub is the closest to our speed 🙂 Good luck!

  24. 16 September, 2014 / 11:52 pm

Love the wine bar already! Looks more like France than Bangkok though 🙂 Have been to Bangkok but was too overwhelmed by everything else to discover its nightlife. Maybe next time?

  25. 17 September, 2014 / 12:24 am

Great post guys I wish I knew about all these places when I was here!

  26. 17 September, 2014 / 2:00 am

Really enjoyed this post and with Bangkok so high on my list, i’ll be keeping this on the favourites for later!

  27. 18 September, 2014 / 12:52 am

Can only dream of having the opportunities to visit these bars! Love that last pic by the way 🙂

  28. 18 September, 2014 / 5:48 am

Those places look amazing! Thanks for such a thorough list. I will definitely pass in the information.!

  29. 2 October, 2014 / 8:48 pm

Octave is prob the best one mentioned. I am surprised “Long Table” didn’t get a mention, that’s another good rooftop, and it has a pool.

Heyy…gr8 article. I am looking for a rooftop bar n restaurant to visit with my wife in feb’15. It should be with a great view but without burning a hole in my pocket. which one would u suggest. I will be staying in the Sukhumvit area.

    • 7 January, 2015 / 11:17 am

      Hi there,
The Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar is at 2 Sukhumvit Road Soi 57 · Bangkok 10110.
Enjoy!! Take lots of photos and have fun!!!

  31. 14 January, 2015 / 10:28 pm

Those places have fantastic views and yes they are free to enter. Unfortunately in most of them it’s compulsory to buy a drink (which is understandable) until you look at the menu and realise that a small beer costs a small fortune.

  32. 5 February, 2015 / 5:51 am

That’s some list Pete & Sam, thanks. I’ve been to the Moon Bar, that was good, but I want to try Cloud 47 and next time I will, hopefully in a couple of months!

  33. 5 February, 2015 / 6:00 am

By the way just added a link to your excellent post on my Moon Bar post, Graham.

  34. 8 March, 2015 / 6:39 pm

I love Bangkok. I have been here a month and there is so much to do and see, even on my tight budget!
Great post. I will try them all 🙂

  35. 18 March, 2015 / 5:21 pm

Love the sky bar scene in Bangkok! Our favorite is Red Sky they have buy one get one happy hour deals every day of the week, that is our go to bar in Bangkok! Thanks for some new ones for us to check out in April when we are back in BKK.

  36. 5 April, 2015 / 10:13 pm

Hi, thanks for this awesome selection !

I think Octave (Marriott Sukhumvit) is my favorite so far.

To be honest we hated Skybar (and the Lebua Hotel in general), way overpriced for the service and the quality of the drinks. After all, you get amazing views from other rooftops in Bangkok too ..

For those who are interested, we’ve just released a 18 or so selection of Bangkok rooftops (last update March 2015:)

http://www.hotels-bangkok.fr/rooftop-bars-bangkok/ (in French, but you’ll get ideas)

    Have a nice day

  37. 28 September, 2015 / 4:58 pm

Love Bangkok, one of my favourite city’s. I tried the Sky Bar but because I had shorts (smart ones mind) they wouldn’t let me in! Although the people in front who could only be described as washed tramps strolled on through! Anyway, great article.

    • 29 September, 2015 / 1:20 pm

oh that sucks Andrew, They do seem to have a “strict” dress code and dont allow shorts in – which seems silly as its always so hot there!

We head to Bangkok for the first time in just over six weeks so I have found this just at the right time. We are looking forward to seeing some great views across the skyline and I have to say you have caught my attention with the Wine Pub as this is one I have not heard of before.
