Mahe – Best island to stay in Seychelles for families
Mahe is the largest island of the Seychelles, and is where you’ll find the capital city of Victoria as well as the international airport. 86% of the population of the Seychelles lives on Mahe, but you really don’t need to worry about crowds as the population is still under 80,000.
While Mahe offers the same idyllic beaches, lush rainforest and soaring mountains as the other islands, you can also soak up a bit of local culture and experience life outside of your resort in the town of Victoria. Mahe is also known to have some of the best beaches in Seychelles!
Wondering where to stay in Seychelles with family? There is inexpensive bus service to get around on Mahe, or you can rent a car and explore on your own.
A third option for exploring Mahe is to hire a taxi. Should you decide to stay in Mahe, there is a regular ferry service to Praslin and La Digue, so you can still do a bit of island-hopping with day trips to these nearby islands.
If you really want to splurge, helicopter and sailing charters are also available to whisk you off to whichever island you desire. Mahe is one of the best places to stay in the Seychelles for the first time.
