Mahe – Best island to stay in Seychelles for families
Mahe is the largest island of the Seychelles, and is where you’ll find the capital city of Victoria as well as the international airport. 86% of the population of the Seychelles lives on Mahe, but you really don’t need to worry about crowds as the population is still under 80,000.
While Mahe offers the same idyllic beaches, lush rainforest and soaring mountains as the other islands, you can also soak up a bit of local culture and experience life outside of your resort in the town of Victoria. Mahe is also known to have some of the best beaches in Seychelles!
Wondering where to stay in Seychelles with family? There is inexpensive bus service to get around on Mahe, or you can rent a car and explore on your own.
A third option for exploring Mahe is to hire a taxi. Should you decide to stay in Mahe, there is a regular ferry service to Praslin and La Digue, so you can still do a bit of island-hopping with day trips to these nearby islands.
If you really want to splurge, helicopter and sailing charters are also available to whisk you off to whichever island you desire. Mahe is one of the best places to stay in the Seychelles for the first time.

Praslin – Where to stay in Seychelles for golfers
Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles, and only 1/10 of the population of Mahe. There is daily catamaran service from Mahe to Praslin, which takes under an hour.
Once you’ve reached Praslin, bike rentals are a great way to explore the island. Car rentals and buses are also available.
With a mountainous ridge running east-west through the center of the island, and stunning white sand beaches along the exterior of the island, Praslin is an ideal place to stay in the Seychelles.
The interior of the island has lush rainforests known for plant and bird life, so you can do some exploring beyond the beaches of Praslin.
Praslin is also home to the only 18-hole golf course in the Seychelles. Of course, there are many resorts to choose from once you decide to stay in Praslin.

La Digue – Where to stay in Seychelles for couples
The third largest island of the Seychelles is La Digue, with a population less than 3000. If you want to get away from everything and just enjoy luxurious beaches, La Digue is a great choice for you.
There is no airport, and very few vehicles, so most visitors arrive to La Digue via ferry from Praslin. Helicopter service from Mahe can also be arranged.
Most resorts can arrange to meet you at the ferry for transfer to your island lodging, and many of them also have free bike rentals to get around this small island.
La Digue has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, including Anse Source D’Argent and Anse Cocos. Even if you decide not to stay in La Digue, you can visit there on a day trip from Praslin or Mahe.
