Northern Quarter

The Northern Quarter is a former warehouse district on the edge of the city centre, which is often cited as the best place to stay in Manchester for nightlife, and a place to find the most cheap hotels in Manchester. This is where you’ll find Manchester’s edge, with bohemian bars, impressive street art, independent record shops and restaurants for every taste and budget.

Didsbury

While Manchester is a modern city, Didsbury is closer to what a traveler might expect of an English village. Didsbury is considered a suburb of Manchester, just six kilometers to the south, but has in fact been around since the 13th century. Didsbury is one of Manchester’s most expensive suburbs, but is a great place to stay if you prefer a quieter, suburban destination, with occasional day trips into Manchester. In West Didsbury, there are several unique shops and cafes, while Didsbury Village is home to high street shops.

You can live like a local in Chorlton, with small boutiques, groceries, homey cafes, coffee shops and local pubs. The Chorlton Arts Festival takes place each spring, and for some fresh air, check out the Sale Water Park and Chorlton Ees.
