Petar Kanavelic, a poet from Korcula who lived in the home next to the tower, inspired the name Kula Kanalevic that it is known by today.

The St. Mark’s Cathedral is likely the most significant structure in Korcula’s Old Town. It was constructed in the 15th century in the Gothic-Renaissance style, replacing an earlier church from the 13th century.

Vela Luka is a municipality to the west of the island. The area boasts several miles of countryside, as well as a built up attractive town situated in a large bay. The region has several indented coves that have created an impressive landscape that is truly unique.

The Vela Spila cave is located on Pinski Rat hill, which is about 130 metres above the town of Vela Luka on the Croatian island of Korula. The cave is made up of an elliptically shaped cavern that is about 40 m long, 17 m tall, and 40 m broad.
- Luka mozaika – World’s longest mosaic
The Port of Mosaics (Luka mozaika) initiative seeks to build the world’s longest promenade walkway covered with mosaics. The mosaics have now covered 200 metres of the walking trail, and the organisers hope to finish the entire 2,5 to 3 km-long Vela Luka coastal belt.
Each mosaic has 4000 stones that are 1 to 2 cm long and are meticulously cut one by one at Ambalaa, a former factory that has been transformed into a creative workspace and exhibition.

The municipality of Zrnovo is located next to Lumbarda, to the east of the island. It boasts a variety of landscapes including rolling hills, rocky cliffs and pleasant beaches.

Blato is a large municipality in Korcula situated to the west of the Croatian island.
Why stay in Blato
The main areas to stay here include the main town of Blato, plus there are multiple coastal villages such as Prigradica and Prižba. Blato has a few attractions such as the Ethnographic museum but it is still mostly a residential town.

The majority of the island is safe to stay and visit. The larger towns are more tourist based and therefore there are more things to do. However, with the island being small and accessible, you can travel to most places with ease.
