Added Extra: Areas to Avoid in Cappadocia

Cappadocia is one of the safest regions in Turkey. Because it’s one of the country’s biggest attractions and brings in a lot of tourists, the local Government works hard to ensure that tourists want to keep coming back. While you can never fully eradicate petty crimes like pickpocketing, it is rare in Cappadocia.

So, there aren’t too many areas you need to avoid for safety reasons. But Cappadocia is an entire region consisting of Nevşehir, Kırşehir, Niğde, Aksaray, and Kayseri provinces.

Only a tiny handful of villages in the area are where you will find the fairy chimneys and hot air balloon rides. One of the biggest mistakes you could make is finding a good hotel deal in a village that is far away from anywhere you want to be!

All of the towns listed in this guide are in the Nevşehir province. If you spot hotels in the other provinces that say they are in Cappadocia, they wouldn’t be lying. But you’d have a heck of a taxi ride to see the hot air balloons in the morning.

FAQs About: where to stay in cappadocia turkey

Choosing between Ürgüp and Göreme depends on your preferences. Göreme is a popular choice for its central location, bustling atmosphere, and proximity to the fairy chimneys and hot air balloon launch sites. It’s ideal for those who want to be in the heart of the action. Ürgüp, on the other hand, offers a more upscale experience with luxury accommodations and a blend of modern and historical charm. It’s perfect for travellers seeking a quieter, more luxurious stay. Both towns provide easy access to Cappadocia’s main attractions.

Ideally, you should plan to spend at least 3 to 4 days in Cappadocia. This allows enough time to explore the unique landscapes, visit the open-air museums, take a hot air balloon ride, and enjoy the local culture and cuisine. If you’re interested in hiking, photography, or delving deeper into the historical sites, you might want to extend your stay to 5 or 6 days. This will give you a more relaxed pace to fully appreciate all that Cappadocia has to offer.

Göreme is often considered the main town in Cappadocia due to its central location and popularity among tourists. It’s the hub for many of the region’s activities, including hot air balloon rides, and is close to famous attractions like the Göreme Open Air Museum and fairy chimneys. Göreme’s wide range of accommodations, restaurants, and shops make it a convenient base for exploring the rest of Cappadocia.

Final Thoughts: best hotels in cappadocia

In closing, Cappadocia is a place with something special for everyone. If you like busy places, Göreme is great. If you want luxury, Ürgüp is perfect. And for a quiet, cozy stay, towns like Avanos and Ortahisar are wonderful.

Cappadocia is full of amazing sights, from the tall fairy chimneys to old cave churches. Whether you’re flying in a hot air balloon, walking through history, or just enjoying the views, your time here will be something you always remember.

The most important thing is to pick a place to stay that fits what you like to do. Whether you want to save money, enjoy some luxury, have an adventure, or just relax, Cappadocia has the perfect spot for you. So get ready, bring your excitement, and prepare for an amazing trip in the beautiful world of Cappadocia. Happy traveling!
