In August, the beach holds the Anguilla Summer Festival which attracts many excited visitors and residents every year. There are several fun activities that occur during the festival week including a boat race.

There are several restaurants on the beachfront at Sandy Ground that are family-owned, authentic restaurants. These are great to visit if you want to be immersed in the culture and traditional dishes that Anguilla has to offer.

Vincy on the Beach and Barrel Stay Beach Front Restaurant are some great recommendations for a meal out. Or why not try Criss Conch Shack which is an authentic seafront shack selling light bites. Perfect for when you are laying on the beach.

Blowing Point – Ideal for Beachy Vibes

Blowing Point is a large town on the south of the island. It has more hustle and bustle compared to some of the small villages nearby. However, it is a lot more industrial.

This is because it has the main ferry point for Anguilla, which takes you over to the neighbouring island of Saint Martin. It is an important trade route and therefore the area has built up over time.

There are plenty of villa rentals and hotels in this area and it is a great base for exploring the rest of the island. However, it has less of a relaxing beachfront vibe compared to what other areas of the island have to offer.

Areas to Avoid in Anguilla

As a whole Anguilla is a very safe place and is said to be the safest island within the Eastern Caribbean.

Crime is extremely low and you should feel very safe and secure during your travels here. It is always best to avoid more built up industrial areas of the main cities.

These areas are not very pleasant to look at and can be intimidating. The area around the airport is also best avoided as it is a very busy place and there are many locals trying to sell you things and offer taxi services.
