City Centre – Where to stay in Aarhus for first timers
For the largest selection of Aarhus hotels, city centre is the best area. If you are looking for an Aarhus hostel, you’ll find a few of those here too. Staying in a central location means all other neighborhoods of Aarhus are within easy reach, so you can explore the city without difficulty.
The train station is conveniently located in the city center, making arrival, departure and day trips very easy for travellers. Aarhus is also well known as a shopping destination of Denmark, and Bruun’s Galleri near the train station is Denmark’s largest city-shopping centre. For more high end boutique shopping, head to Vestergade, the street running through the city centre.

Latin Quarter – Where to stay in Aarhus for tourists
The best area for tourists visiting Aarhus for the first time is the Latin Quarter. Not only is it the oldest neighborhood in Aarhus, it’s one of the liveliest. Narrow, cobblestone streets are lined with cafes, restaurants and bars. Just ten minutes from the city center, this area offers commanding views of the beach and the nearby Marselis woods. Everything in the Latin Quarter radiates out from the main square, Pustervig Torv. Just strolling the streets here, you can really take in Danish culture and see why Aarhus is the happiest city in Denmark.

Aarhus Ø – Where to stay in Aarhus for relaxation
The Aarhus Docklands is a recently revitalized harbour area that was only built up in the last ten years. This planned development is modern in every way, with much to offer visitors to Aarhus. The world’s largest seawater baths opened here in 2018, in a world-class recreation center on the edge of town. The nearby promenade is lined with pop-up cafes, where visitors can wait when the baths are full. Eventually, this development will include a hotel. In the meantime, other hotels and attraction await you in the docklands.

Vesterbro – Where to stay in Aarhus for genuine expereince
When Aarhus was founded, this area was farmland outside of the original city walls. Today, it is a residential area just west of the city centre. Two of the best things to do in Aarhus are located in Vesterbro. The Aarhus Old Town Museum, or Dem Gamle By, is an open-air museum that shows Danish history through several exhibits. The Botanical Gardens are also here, with four unique tropical houses. You’ll find a little bit of everything in this suburb just minutes from the city centre.
