The Ultimate Family Friendly Camera – Nikon Coolpix S33 Review

The Nikon Coolpix S33 is the perfect camera for every member for the family, not only is it easy to use but its very light to handle, it only weights 180 grams which includes the battery and SD card !!

Design:

The Coolpix S33 is an extremely family-friendly camera, which is waterproof up to 10m, shockproof to a drop of 1.5m, dustproof and cold-resistant to temperatures as low as -10°C. I found this camera extremely easy to use, the best features is the Target-Finding autofocus, in which your subjects (people or places) will always be in focus no matter where they are in the frame (even underwater!).

The plastic body and quick and easy control buttons makes this camera as easy to use as a child’s toy, its not as “hard-core” as some of the other waterproof cameras on the markets (which can be overly complex to use).

Special features:

The host of special effects such as Glamour Retouch, Decorative Frames and Slide Animations, make it easy to put personalised touches on the photos before uploading them to your computer! You can even add a personalised voice recording messages to your photos to help remember a funny story or special experience.

The S33 also has up to 15 different scene modes ranging from the fireworks, underwater, macro, soft, night, as well as the less common modes like mirror, neon effect, and interval shooting.

Recording and image quality:

The recording options on the S33 are great, start recording with just the push of a button. The S33 captures every occasion in Full HD 1080p/30fps with Vibration Reduction function. You can even shoot 10 second videos with a diorama effect!

While this camera is not a DLSR, it is very easy to use and the image quality is still fairly high (it is a Nikon after all!).
