Kentron – Where to stay in Yerevan for first timers

Kentron is the district of Yerevan that includes the city center, and is the best area for tourists. With all of the main attractions of Yerevan at your doorstep, including the famous Opera House.

Yerevan Cascade Complex – Where to stay in Yerevan with Family

Just outside the ring of the city center is the Yerevan Cascade Complex, a famous place in Yerevan, popular with locals and tourists alike.

The cascade is a giant limestone stairway, surrounded by gardens and sculptures.

The outside of the cascade is lined with cafes and shops, while the interior has seven escalators for those who don’t want to use the steps.Yerevan Cascade Complex is a great weekend in Yerevan spot.

The surrounding neighborhood of Monument is a lovely place to stay in Yerevan, as you are just 15 minutes by taxi from the city center, yet there are enough options within the area to entertain you, including live music at the Cascade in spring, summer and autumn.

Tsitsernakaberd – Where to stay in Yerevan for history buffs

West of the Yerevan city center is Tsitsernakaberd, a monument and memorial of the Armenian genocide, which happened from 1915-1917 and resulted in the death of more than 1.5 million Armenians.

The area around the monument comprises three hills on the shore of the Hrazdan River, where an iron age fortress once stood.

As you are a bit out of the city center, it’s possible to find cheap hotels in Yeravan here. The nearby Dalma Garden Mall has a grocery store and shopping for guests choosing to stay here.

Other area attractions include a sport/concert complex and Hrazdan central stadium, while the city center is just ten minutes away on public transportation.

Erebuni Fortress – Where to stay in Yerevan on a budget

Further outside of Yerevan city center is the Erebuni Fortress, an ancient hilltop fortress and museum.

The fortress itself dates back to 782 BC, and is an important historical attraction of Yerevan. The museum adjacent to the fortress houses the findings of several local excavations including clothing, jewelry and pottery.

As this area is a bit removed from the city center, it’s possible to find budget accommodation and hostels if you are willing to travel and stay on the outskirts.
