El Arenal – Where to stay in Seville without a car

The most central area to find Seville accommodation is El Arenal, making this the best place to stay in Seville if you only have a short time to see the highlights. This Seville neighborhood is centered around the bullring, and also contains the famous Seville Cathedral, the Naval Museum and the Torre del Oro, as well the historic port on the river.

The proximity to all the main activities means this is the best option for those wondering where to stay in Seville without a car. While this is one of the best areas to stay in Seville for tourists, it’s also a hot spot for locals to live and hang out at an of the local tapas bars and rooftop terraces.

Barrio Santa Cruz – Where to stay in Seville for Tourists

Where to stay in Seville first time? Another very central Seville neighborhood is Barrio Santa Cruz, the Old Jewish Quarter of Seville. This colorful, historic neighborhood of Seville is filled with narrow, winding streets that open into lively public squares. Tourists love visiting Santa Cruz because it just feels like authentic, historic Spain.

There are endless photo opportunities, and some of the best tapas bars in Seville. If you are deciding where to stay in Seville with family, Barrio Santa Cruz is a good option, as you’re still near all the central attractions, however it is a bit quieter than staying in El Arenal and a great area if you’re wondering where to stay in Seville without a car.

Triana – Where to stay in Seville for foodies

Across the river from Santa Cruz, is the Seville neighborhood of Triana. This is the best neighborhood to stay in Seville for those seeking a more authentic, less touristic, experience in Seville. Triana was once a separate village from Seville, and later became the Gypsy quarter of Seville, with deep ties to flamenco dancing and bullfighting.

One highlight of the neighborhood is the Triana market, or Mercado de Triana, a traditional Spanish market with fruit, vegetables, meat and seafood stalls, as well as restaurants. Whether you stay in Triana, or just visit, you’ll also enjoy views of Seville from the bridges leading across the Guadalquivir River. Don’t miss the riverside cafes in Triana, too. It’s not hard to find a lovely place for dinner and drinks with a view.

Macarena – Where to stay in Seville for families

Home of the Basilica of the Virgin of the Macarena, this neighborhood pre-dates the catchy 1990’s dance tune by about 800 years. This Seville neighborhood is north of the center and Santa Cruz, and has some of the oldest Moorish remnants in the city, including a large section of the original city wall from the 12th century.

The Mercado de la Feria is Seville’s oldest, and this is where the procession for Semana Santa begins each spring. This is the best neighborhood in Seville for those who don’t want to be in the center of things, and prefer a quieter place to stay at night.

La Cartuja – Where to stay in Seville for business travellers

La Cartuja is the island in the middle of the Guadalquivir River. It’s the site of the 1992 Universal Exposition of Seville, where over 100 countries were represented for the “Age of Discovery” theme. The Jardin Americano is a great place for some green space in the city, and is uniquely filled entirely with plants from America, hence the name.

The buildings from the expo remain, as well as several university buildings and the convention center. This makes it a common neighborhood for business travelers, but the central location also makes it a great place to stay in Seville for tourists.
