Where to stay in Montreal

Montreal is the second largest French-speaking city in the world, and has a European feel in both culture and architecture.

Being within a half days drive of several major U.S. cities makes Montreal a popular destination for a weekend getaway, located in Canada’s Quebec province.

The capital of Canada’s Québec province is Montréal. The triple-peaked hill in its centre, Mount Royal, inspired the name of this island-based community in the Saint Lawrence River.

The thriving Golden Square Mile at the base of Mount Royal is renowned for its Victorian-era buildings, including grand mansions that originally served as homes to the wealthy business class of the city.

A number of large shopping centres are also located within the Golden Square Mile, and nearby streets are lined with affordable bars and restaurants. Due to the area’s continued business prosperity, it was given the name Golden Square Mile.

Golden Square Mile is technically within downtown, however, I think it deserved it’s own little category. This is best location to stay in Montreal for people who love museums and fine arts.
