Toxteth – Where to stay in Liverpool with family

For a quiet spot in Liverpool, and lower prices outside of Liverpool city centre, Toxteth is a great option. The best feature of Toxteth is Sefton Park, with hundreds of acres of public land. The park has walking paths, a lake, sports fields, gardens, a greenhouse, playground and a cafe. The neighborhood itself is quite historic, and was originally a hunting forest and Royal Park until the 17th century. As a largely residential area, visitors staying in Toxteth will have easy access to grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. Foodies will want to check out Lark Lane, which extends from Sefton Park for several blocks. “The Lane” offers an eclectic mix of bars, restaurants and shops, with cuisines from all over the world making an appearance. At night, the beer gardens along Lark Lane come alive. There is a decent selection of Liverpool accommodation in Toxteth, with many options just a minute walk from Sefton Park.

Baltic Triangle – Best areas to stay in Liverpool

A sub-area of the Liverpool city centre is the Baltic Triangle. What was once home to factories and workshops is fast becoming the creative and digital hub of Liverpool. As investment pours in to resurrect this area, it’s been compared to New York’s meatpacking district as it transitions from gritty to trendy. Younger travelers who want an edgier experience should consider Liverpool accommodation in the Baltic Triangle. Naturally, the growth of creative spaces and galleries is also fueling the growth of bars, boutiques and restaurants, so travelers who decide that this is the best area to stay in Liverpool will have many options for entertainment and lodging.

Crosby Beach – Where to stay in Liverpool by the beach

For a more suburban experience, visitors might consider staying in Crosby. This small coastal town is less than ten kilometers from Liverpool city centre, but offers a very different atmosphere. Crosby offers a true seaside experience with a beach and tide-pools, as well as the Antony Gormley sculpture, “Another Place.” 100 cast iron figures have been placed around the beach and are often submerged at high tide, making this a very interesting art installation. A promenade follows the beach, making this a great destination for runners and cyclists. A direct train can easily take you to Liverpool for more sightseeing.
