Annecy Le Vieux – Where to stay in Annecy with Family
Less than three kilometers from Annecy Centre Gare, Annecy Le Vieux offers the best of both worlds for visitors. Just outside the noise and bustle of Old Town, with a prime shoreline of Lake Annecy, it’s the perfect location for families visiting Annecy, especially anyone visiting the summer who plans to spend some time at the lake shore. One can easily walk along the lake shore to the main part of down for dinner or drinks, and if you are driving to Annecy, more hotels offer parking in Annecy Le Vieux than the more crowded Old Town.

Old Town – Where to stay in Annecy for tourists
As with many European cities and villages, the Old Town area is the heart of town and where the majority of tourist activity takes place. Annecy Centre Vieille is fairly compact and easily walkable. Colorful houses with balconies full of blooms make the village very picturesque.
Most of the streets in Old Town are closed to vehicles, so this may be a problem if you are arriving to Annecy by vehicle, however it’s very pleasant for visitors as you can endlessly stroll the cobblestone streets without worries of traffic. There are many boutiques, cafes, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. It’s only a short walk to the lake, although the main swimming areas are a bit further from Old Town. Le Semnoz – Where to stay near Annecy in Winter
Le Semnoz is the mountain resort just outside of Annecy. In the winter, it’s a snow sport playground, with downhill skiing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowkiting. Summer offers hiking paths, rock climbing, mountain bike trails and alpine pastures.
From the peak of Le Semnoz, one can see as far as Mont Blanc on a clear day, in addition to breathtaking views of nearby Annecy and Lake Annecy. The lake and town of Annecy are nearby, so it’s easy to nip into town for dinner in the evening. The village of Talloires is a popular option, about 13 kilometers from Annecy.
