One of the safest areas of Lima, as well as the most popular for travelers, is Miraflores. With a prime location along the coast, Miraflores is one of the more upscale areas of Lima, with fine dining, shopping and Parque Kennedy, also known as Cat Park for a large population of feral cats.
Located about ten kilometers south of the city center, Miraflores is also the site of pre-Incan ruins called Huaca Pucllana.
The hotels in Miraflores Peru range from budget-friendly hostels to luxury high-rise hotels, and everything in between. If you are a points traveler, you’ll find all of the big-name hotel brands here in Miraflores.

Barranco – Where to Stay in Lima for Nightlife
Barranco is the Bohemian, artistic district of Lima. While the neighborhood had its heyday in the 1960s, the essence of art is still alive and well.
In fact, Barranco is one of the best places to stay in Lima Peru for nightlife. Live music pours out onto the streets each evening, and sidewalk cafes line the streets.
Accommodation in the Barranco district tends to be more affordable than some of the swankier neighborhoods of Lima but again comes with safety precautions in the evenings.
Of course, it’s a lively area, so you should exercise the same care you would in any large city.

Another popular Lima attraction, the Larco Museum, is famous for a large collection of erotic pre-Columbian pottery.

Chorrillos – Where to Stay in Lima for Relaxation
South of Miraflores and Barranco, the Lima district of Chorrillos began as a small fishing village.
Today, it is a typical harbor area with a Malecon along the seafront, and many restaurants serving up fresh seafood. Morro Solar is a hill overlooking the district.
An illuminated cross marks the spot, which also houses a planetarium and a war memorial. Chorrillos is also home to Pantanos de Villa, a natural reserve that is home to hundreds of birds, insects, and animals. There are also several beaches nearby to check out.

Lima Airport – Where to Stay near Lima Airport
Lima Airport is located 12 kilometers from the city center, along the coast north of town. Many travelers only transit through Lima on their way to other areas of Peru, such as Cusco. If this is your plan, and you do not intend to explore Lima, then staying near the airport is convenient and economical.
Likewise, if you have an early morning departure or a late evening arrival, you may choose to stay near the airport and continue on to a proper Lima neighborhood for the rest of your stay. There are not many tourist attractions in this area, however, it’s easy to travel to other parts of Lima by taxi.
