Ayutthaya Kingdom -The Ancient Capital of Bangkok (PHOTO BLOG)

The Ayutthaya Kingdom was the ancient capital of Bangkok, it has incredible architecture from the 1351 to the 1767, most building still standing now in 2013! The history behind this kingdom is very rich, is what made Bangkok what it is today. Bang Pa-In Palace also known as the Summer Palace, is located in the King Ayutthaya Kingdom. Prasat Thong originally constructed the complex in 1632, and though it lay empty and overgrown throughout the late 18th and early 19th centuries, King Mongkut began to restore the site in the mid-19th century. Most of the present buildings were constructed between 1872 and 1889 by King Chulalongkorn. Mantra Samui Resort- Hotel Review

Mantra Samui Resort- Hotel Review

We were put on an earlier flight by Bangkok airlines. We had booked a car from the Mantra Samui to pick us up, but they had our old flight times so were obviously not waiting at the airport to pick us up at the earlier time. We tried call the Mantra Samui from the airport which was a shambles! The phone number they had on an email they sent me was wrong. At one stage we had 3 airport staff helping us to find the number. The Mantra Samui car arrived; we stood around for a while (with 2 other couples) then got shoved into a taxi van to be taken to do the hotel. We had booked the “hotel Luxury car” If this was luxury, we had booked at wrong hotel. When we arrived we were then told the Mantra Samui “luxury Mercedes” was out on maintenance. Maybe I was mistaken but…
Coco Tams at Fishermans Village Bophut Samuii

Fishermans Village Bophut Samui

We got to Fishermans Village and wandered around for a little bit, as it was only 4:30, the stalls were still setting up so we decided to sit on the beach and have a drink, we stumbled upon "Coco Tams", a very cool "on the beach" bar. I remember reading reviews about how good the Coconut ice cream here was. I had a few huge Strawberry Mojitos and we also had some of their very famous coconut ice cream with a shot of baileys. They have huge big bean bags to sit on that didnt look to impressive but in fact were surprisingly comfortable. It was lovely to sit on the beach drinking cocktails and listening to the waves. Shangri-La Bangkok Hotel Review

Shangri-La Bangkok Hotel Review

We took a taxi to the Shangri-la Bangkok hotel from Banyan Tree (we change hotels for a different view). The taxi took us to the Shangri-la Bangkok hotel instead of the Krungthep Wing of the Shangri-la Bangkok. Not knowing this we tried to check in and were told we were in the wrong building, the front desk arranged for the hotel Tuk Tuk to take us to the Krungthep Wing. Check in was quick, Frank the Operations manager introduced himself and offered his help during our stay. Serenity Resort & Residences Phuket

Serenity Resort & Residences Phuket (2011)

We arrived in Phuket after a 7-8 hour flight . We were VERY excited to head to our Hotel Serenity Resort & Residences.  We were picked up in the very nice, clean (new looking) Serenity black 4wd and offered a bottle of iced water when we got in the car (very nice touch after flighting so long and not being used to the heat of Phuket). We arrived at Serenity an hour later where we were greeted by the reception staff and given cold drinks and cold towels. The check in process was very quick and all went well and we headed to our room (in a golf cart!)
