Travel to Samoa
The island nation of Samoa is thought to be the cradle of Polynesian civilization. It consists of two main islands and four smaller islands in the South Pacific Ocean.
Not to be confused with American Samoa, which is a territory of the United States, unique Samoan culture is prevalent throughout the Polynesian islands of the South Pacific.
It’s a gorgeous country filled with natural beauty that includes beaches, mountains, and waterfalls.
QUICK SAMOA FACTS
Currency: Samoan Tala can be withdrawn from ATMs throughout Samoa, however keep in mind that smaller cities or towns may not have access to ATMs and its recommended to withdraw cash and take it with you.
Power Points: Most power points are the same as Australian power points (2 diagonal prongs). Obviously I would recommend you take a Travel Adapter especially for non Australians.
Official Language: The official language of Samoa is Samoan.
Health: There are a few health concerns in Samoa for travellers such as dengue fever, Zika virus, chikungunya and a recent outbreak of Measles. I would recommend that you contact your doctor a few weeks before you travel as in some cases you need to start any medication a few days before your trip or you may need to get a vaccination.
Drinking Tap Water: The tap water is generally safe to drink, however, if you are unsure, make sure to ask your hotel receptionist or host.
Visa: Most countries don’t require a visa for short stays, to visit Samoa.

– Palusami (coconut milk and onions wrapped in taro leaves).
– Faiai Eleni (mackerel or tuna, mixed with the coconut cream).
– Sapa Sui (meat, stir fried vegetables and aromatics such as ginger and garlic).
– Falai Mamoe (Samoan style stir fried lamb and veggies).
When to go: Most people agree that the ideal time of year to travel to Samoa is during the dry season, which lasts from May to October. Plan your trip between June and September if, on the other hand, you’re searching for ideal weather with clear sky and lots of sunshine.
