Currency: Mauritian rupee can be withdrawn from ATMs throughout Mauritius, however keep in mind that smaller cities or towns may not have access to ATMs and its recommended to withdraw cash and take it with you.

Power Points: For Mauritius there are two associated plug types, C and G. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and type G is the plug which has three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern.

Official Language: Mauritian Creole is a French-based Creole spoken in Mauritius, they also speak English in Mauritius.

Health: There are a number of major health concerns in Mauritius for travellers, including insect borne diseases, HIV and hepatitis to name a few. I would recommend that you contact your doctor a few weeks before you travel as in some cases you need to start any medication a few days before your trip or you may need to get a vaccination.

Drinking Tap Water: The tap water is generally safe to drink, however, if you are unsure, make sure to ask your hotel receptionist or host or drink bottled water.

Visa: Most countries don’t require a visa for short stays, to visit Mauritius.

When to go: The best months to visit Mauritius are May through December because of the mild, dry, and sunny weather.
