Travel to Malta

QUICK MALTA FACTS

Currency: The currency used in Malta is the Euro which can be withdrawn from ATMs throughout Malta, however keep in mind that smaller cities or towns may not have access to ATMs and its recommended to withdraw cash and take it with you.

Power Points: Most power points are the same as most other European power points (2 circular prongs). Obviously I would recommend you take a Travel Adapter especially for non Europeans.

Official Language: The official language of Malta is Maltese.

Health: There are currently no major health concerns in Malta.

Drinking Tap Water: The tap water is generally safe to drink, however, if you are unsure, make sure to ask your hotel receptionist or host.

Visa: Most countries don’t require a visa for short stays, to visit Malta.

Popular foods:
– Pastizzi (diamond-shaped made of phyllo-pastry; savory cheese or pea cakes).
– Stuffat tal-Fenek (slow cooked rabbit stew).
– Torta tal-Lampuki (lampuki pie, dorado fish or mahi-mahi fish pie).
– Imqaret (mini date cakes/bites).

When to go: The most popular season to visit Malta is in the spring and early summer, specifically in April, May, and June. Fewer tourists are in town and the weather is pleasant (sunny days and chilly evenings).
