Israel is considered the Holy Land by several religions and as such, has a tumultuous history. However, the natural beauty and cultural significance continue to bring millions of visitors to Israel each year. Holy sites include the capital city of Jerusalem, and the Sea of Galilee, while other travelers come to relax on the shores of the Dead Sea. Tel Aviv is also a very popular city, as it’s quite modern with excellent cuisine and culture.
QUICK ISRAEL FACTS
Currency: Israeli new shekel can be withdrawn from ATMs throughout Israel, however keep in mind that smaller cities or towns may not have access to ATMs and its recommended to withdraw cash and take it with you.
Power Points: Most power points in Israel are three round prongs that form a triangle. I would recommend you take a Travel Adapter.
Official Language: The official language of Israel is Hebrew.
Health: There are some health concerns in Israel for travellers such as waterborne, foodborne and other infectious diseases, West Nile virus and measles. I would recommend that you contact your doctor a few weeks before you travel as in some cases you need to start any medication a few days before your trip or you may need to get a vaccination. The tap water is generally safe to drink, however, if you are unsure, make sure to ask your hotel receptionist or host as some areas recommend only bottled water.
