Deciding the best place for the whole family to spend the Easter holiday can be a little tricky.
There will always be the temptation to take a flight to glorious getaways in Europe, but then you might be overlooking some great family fun in some amazing places and destinations on your doorstep at budget prices.
Here we have a good mix to make the choice easier for the whole family.
Seaside resort at Dorset
Since you’re holidaying with the kids, Dorset provides a natural choice for traditional seaside fun in Weymouth and Swanage. You and the whole family can take in the wild and fresh air and atmosphere at the wide open beach at Studland, and enjoy the stunning Isle of Purbeck. You can also go fossil hunting on Chesil beach or visit the aquarium to see exotic and wild aquatic life. There are also lots of historical things and places to see at English Heritage and National Trust properties, plus Monkey World.
In addition, just six miles south of Weymouth is Delimara, a lovely peninsula on the Jurassic Coast, where the whole family can see and be thrilled by wildlife from an absolutely safe and secure location.
Sightseeing in the festive city of Edinburgh
Edinburgh attracts Brits all year for its breathtaking sights, as well as being home to an array of exciting carnivals and celebrations all the year round.
The Scottish capital is small enough to walk around is another factor that makes it a great pull for an Easter family holiday. Just take a leisurely stroll with your family taking in the remarkable highlights of the city, such as The Royal Mile, Arthur’s Seat, The Castle, and The Museum of Scotland.
A relaxing UK country house hotel
This Easter, you might just need to take a break and enjoy a perfectly relaxing time with the entire family at a country house hotel that’s just a short drive away from home.
The Village Hotel Club is a good place to see a wide range of the best hotels and deals — if you’re not sure which hotel fits your taste, budget, or other special requirements. There are beautiful hotels with fantastic B&B offers on first nights, and good rates for kids, making this the ideal place to stay for the whole family to enjoy.
See the best of Europe with Madrid
Madrid is one of the favourite city break holidays spots in Europe, and that’s for good reason. It is home to so much history you’ll feel you’re on a journey through time.
For example, the Alcala de Henares was founded by the Romans in 100BC and still stands in the city as a mirror to its great past. This UNESCO World Heritage Site strikingly combines gothic, beautiful baroque and renaissance architecture. Thanks to cheap air travel, getting there is unlikely to cost you an arm and a leg, provided you book early enough or take advantage of credit card air miles or the like.
Any of these places are the perfect spot to take your loved ones on a holiday they’ll never forget. You can go as big as you like, but if you’d rather stay a little closer to home, you’ll find that there is still plenty on to keep the kids entertained. Be ready to celebrate this Easter in style!
