Royal Caribbean – Ovation of the Seas

Royal Caribbean - Ovation of the Seas

For those looking for a luxury travel experience like no other, the brand new Ovation of the Seas cruise ship from Royal Caribbean ticks all the right boxes. Making her debut in Sydney, Australia this December, this is certainly one that you shouldn’t miss. At 1,141 foot long, Ovation is the largest ship to grace the waters around Australia. She has a cruising speed of 22 knots, and weighs nearly 200,000 tonnes. But this is no case of quantity over quality, as Ovation truly lives up her name with a number of features that will blow you away.

So what’s so awesome about the Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas?

The Ovation of the Seas cruise ship will be particularly appealing to those looking at cruises from Sydney with a certain element of luxury and indulgence. As long as luxury and comfort are up your alley, you are in for a good time! The ship has age-appropriate clubs for children, as well as a massive entertainment complex.

She also offers more revolutionary technology: an air machine that allows you to fly in a controlled air chamber and a capsule that suspends you three hundred feet above sea level, providing you with 360 degree views of the ocean. But if you’re looking for something a little less adventurous, at SeaPlex entertainment centre, you can go rollerskating, play basketball, or even ride dodgem cars. You can have an attempt at finding your balance and go iceskating, rock climbing or surfing on the state of the art surf simulator. Alternatively, you can spend hours in the brand new enlarged Casino.

But the entertainment certainly doesn’t stop here. Vistarama is a new technology that is designed to transform a room into any scene- be it a circus show, a movie, or a Broadway style theatre production. And with an ice bar, as well as a bar where you’re served by robots, you certainly won’t go thirsty!

Food Glorious Food

Ovation also has plenty of food options on board. There are free options, including the diverse Windjammer’s Marketplace, as well as several a la carte restaurants, cafes, a pizzeria, a 24-hour cafe and a hot-dog truck. There’s even a Jamie’s Italian! Also making a debut is the Kung Fu Panda Noodle Shop, for those who fancy some Asian food. Ovation also features the Dynamic Dining concept, where passengers can choose their dining time and book ahead, using the innovative Royal IQ, a piece of technology that allows you to make reservations using an app. Dynamic dining will allocate you a table on a first-come, first-serve basis, and you will be seated alongside different dining companions and in a different part of the room each time.

But if you prefer the traditional cruise dining experience, don’t worry! Ovation also offers Dynamic Classic Dining, where you are served by the same waiters each night and sit next to the same dining companions.

Once you’ve sampled all the delicious food, there are also several relaxation options. Ovation offers a Vitality Spa and Fitness Centre, with the likes of botox, body wraps, acupuncture, teeth whitening, hair services…the list goes on! There is also a 220-foot poolside movie screen outdoors, and an adults-only solarium pool, as well as a whirlpool for the kids.

The accommodation in this ship set a whole new standard for cruising, but with so much going on you probably won’t spend much time in your room at all! 75% of the cabins have balconies, and the inside cabins boast “virtual balconies”. The rooms are well designed and spacious, with a wide range of thoughtful features. There are also cabins that can accommodate families- the Family Connected Junior Suite, a truly innovative feature.

I really love the virtual tour option on the website, helps to give you an ides of what to expect all over the ship! The state rooms are amazing!!

So make sure you don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime experience, and book a cruise!
