National parks are definitely a good place to look for wonderful camping destinations, and Yosemite is one of the best ones. Almost all of the park is dedicated to untouched wilderness, so you can completely lose yourself in nature, without any of the distractions of the modern world. There are plenty of hikes that will take you to the stunning Yosemite Falls and the Yosemite Valley. If you are going to go camping in Yosemite, make sure that you are aware of your surroundings, as bears are quite common.

Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

Another brilliant national park to visit is Shenandoah in Virginia. It is a bit more of a convenient location for camping because it is only seventy five miles away from Washington DC, so if you are just going for a shorter break, it is worth considering. The national park is home to a hundred mile stretch of the famed Appalachian Trail, one of the best hiking trails on earth. The diverse wildlife, great walks, and plentiful waterfalls are all great arguments in favor of going camping at Shenandoah National Park.

Boya Lake Provincial Park, Canada

As the name suggests, the main feature of Boya Lake Provincial Park is the beautiful lake that lay at its center. It is one of the few places in the area that has a lake that is warm enough to swim in, making it a great place to go camping. The whole area was formed by glaciers, creating some incredible hiking trails around the many islands and lakes that cover this piece of land.

Miyajima, Japan

For something a bit more exotic, you might have to go further afield. Miyajima, a small island just a few minutes away from Hiroshima, is host to a lot of great camping opportunities. If you aren’t willing to go for the full camping experience, you can also hire cabins in the area. There are plenty of temples in the area that you can visit, but one of the most amazing things about Miyajima is that there are domesticated deer all over the place, that you can walk right up to and touch.

The Isle of Arran, Scotland

Scotland is home to some of the best natural features in the world, but it is often overlooked. The Isle of Arran, just off the coast of Scotland, is home to a wide range of landscapes, ranging from rolling hills to staggering mountains. If you’re a history buff, then this is a great place to go. People have been settling there since prehistoric times so there is a wealth of historical artifacts and sites for you to look at.
