The Nest is a very modern rooftop lounge; which is located on the 8th floor of the Le Fenix Hotel in Sukhumvit Soi 11. however people don’t just come here for the view, they go for the atmosphere. The Nest is an open air rooftop bar, which offers a great selection of food with tapas starting at 80baht and mains starting at 130 Baht.

They also offer seriously huge cocktails for a great price. There is plenty of seating available with some of the seating is based on “a birds nest” – huge wicker day beds, so you can sit back and enjoy the view! If you are not lucky enough to score one of these nests, don’t stress, they still have plenty of comfortable sofas to go around.

When you walk in, you might think its a little small however behind a sliding door another roof top deck opens up. The menu isn’t that large, it offers a few small bites including a burger and sharing plate. The cocktails are expensive but worth it, they are made with the best ingredients the hotel can get their hands on..

The Speakeasy encompasses the entire 24th and 25th floors and offers a number of different styles of “watering holes” including:

Vertigo and Moon Bar Rooftop Bar and Restaurant

Take in the stunning views  of this vast city from 61 floors above (also my favourite and dare i say the best Bangkok rooftop bar)!

Banyan tree’s Vertigo and moon bar provides a unique experience, where guests are welcomed by a fresh light breeze (which is a lovely surprise on a humid night) and a nice icy cold, freshly made cocktail by the roof top open-air bar.

Vertigo is one of my favourite rooftop restaurants in Bangkok, as you can dine on a set or al a carte menu and there’s no shortage of Western or Thai options plus you get a cute little flashlight to read the menus as the lighting isn’t the best ( it’s so you are able to enjoy the views better).

The Moon Bar’s speciality cocktail is a “Vertigo Sunset” which is made up of Malibu, pineapple juice, cranberry juice and lime juice.

If you are unfortunate enough to be caught in the rain, the restaurant and bar will not be open, instead you will be relocate to one of their other restaurants which (don’t worry!) still has a great view of the city.

Opening times –Vertigo: 6:00pm til 11:00pm daily & Moon Bar: 5:00pm til 1:00am daily

Sirocco and Sky Bar Rooftop Bar and Restaurant

Sirocco and Sky Bar are in competition with Vertigo and Moon bar for the Best rooftop bar in Bangkok! These 2 great properties are located just down the road from one another, so you can always try both and make up your own mind.

Both Sirocco and Sky bar have an edge over Vertigo as they have both city and river views. This bar and restaurant are located on the 63rd floor of The Dome at Lebua. Sirocco and Sky Bar does offer a little bit more room to move around than Vertigo but each has its own charm.

This Bangkok rooftop restaurant was also featured in the hilarious“The Hangover Part II” movie (i’d be shocked if you haven’t seen it!). Sky Bar’s featured cocktails is of course the well-known Hangovertini!

Above Eleven

Perched 32 floors on top of the Fraser Suites is the aptly named “Above Eleven” as it overlooks Sukhumvit soi 11. This is in my opinion one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok in terms of value for money. This place mimics a rooftop garden or park that’s matched perfectly well with a sunset view over Bangkok city.

Apart from great cocktails and drinks, Above Eleven is well-known for its Peruvian/Japanese fusion cuisine. Try the Discover Peru – 5 course tasting menu for 1 – 2 people with a Mojito or a glass of white wine. Happy hour at Above Eleven is very popular with their reasonably priced drinks.

Hot tip: Book a few days in advance because this rooftop bar is busy almost every day.

Octave Rooftop Bar & Lounge

Sometimes rooftops bars are created on top of hotels or apartments after they are built. This is not the case with Octave Rooftop Bar & Lounge, which was created in mind while the Marriott Sukhumvit Hotel was being built.

Octave prides itself on being a Chic bar, their resident DJ’s playing everyday and showcasing fusion food like Asian-style tapas platters along with the finest in wines and cocktails.

Octave’s best feature is that it has four levels with the highest one being a 360 degree view rooftop deck.
Although the drinks are quite expensive, the bar has a happy hour from 5 pm – 8 pm with buy 1 get 1 free on signature cocktails and the view more than makes up for it for the prices.

Every seat is considered the “best in the house” with 360 degree views across the city, enhanced by a rotating roster of international DJs each evening, creating a perfect atmosphere.

Savour a range of fan static food from Chef Gibb’s modern French menu, brought to life with a distinctive Asian twist, which can be enjoyed with an inspired selection of creative cocktails and a comprehensive wine list.

Cabbages and Condoms (C&C)

Cabbages and Condoms has attracted international attention as it’s uniquely decorated with condoms from all over the world plus messages and photos that support family planning. Cabbages and Condoms motto is “our food is guaranteed not to cause pregnancy!”

Conveniently located near one of Bangkok’s main business districts, C&C is big with locals and travllers alike. You can choose to sit in the open area under the colourfully lit canopy on the deck or in one of our many air-conditioned rooms.

*Not a rooftop bar – just a very cool concept bar that I thought would be a great addition to the list*

  2. Hi Robyn,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on my article!
I have addressed the issues you have pointed out, thank you for bringing these to my attention.
I am currently going through all my article to make sure they are all grammatically correct.
    Thanks again!

  3. Hi, I’d update this list if I were you. For starters, BED Supperclub is closed. How about a top rooftop bar post? I can help you with that since I go to almost all of them in town! 🙂

  4. Cool article. Bangkok has got to be my favorite place for quirky restaurants too. Next time you’re there check out Kratong Flying Chicken, Cabbages and Condoms, Hajime Robot Restaurant, and the Baiyoke Buffet on the 83rd floor of the Baiyoke Sky Hotel 🙂

  5. What a nice list! Although, we visited Banyan Tree’s Vertigo and Moon Bar twice recently, and we actually found the service to be horrendous. Very very slow and not what you would expect when paying around 500 baht a cocktail. In both instances they added extra drinks onto our tabs, and to correct the mistakes took almost 30 minutes. Luckily the beautiful views distracted Angela’s family, who were visiting from the US. Your list has given us some great looking alternatives for the next time we are in Bangkok. Thank you so much for introducing us to some new spots . Sirocco and Sky Bar have caught our eye…especially since you say there is more room to move around 🙂

  6. Hey Angela & Chris
    thanks so much!
oh really!! that’s horrible to hear, i loved our time there – the service was fantastic.
Sky bar really does have a lot more room – check it out next time

  7. Until recently I didn’t even know there was so many good rooftop bars in Bangkok. I visited the city a few years ago and wasn’t overly taken by it but maybe if I had visited a few of these i would have enjoyed myself more.

  8. I would love to drink/eat at any one of those roof top bars! They look so luxurious. I wonder if I could actually afford them. . . I know I wouldn’t be able to if they were in Vegas.

  9. I have been to only the Sirocco and Sky Bar (the one from the Hangover movie), but if I lived in Bangkok I would check out all of them! I love rooftop bars and Bangkok is amazing from above. Thanks for assembling these bars together, I saved this post for a future visit to one of my favorite cities in the world!

  10. What better way to celebrate an anniversary or just have a relaxing meal with a loved one that taking a seat at the top of a gorgeous restaurant with stunning views over a city. This is a really great collection of options here with a variety of cuisines. I am not a fond lover of Thai food, ok so I honestly don’t like it but that is probably because I have only sampled the Americanized Thai versions rather than authentic cuisine in Thailand.

Great review of these gorgeous rooftop bars/restaurants!

  11. I’ve always wanted to visit the Sky Bar at Sirocco since I saw it in The Hangover! I was gutted that I didn’t know about it when I was in Thailand. There’s always the next time!

  12. I can’t wait to try at least one if these when we go in September! Thanks for updating the list, it’s really helpful!

  13. LOL food guarantees not to cause pregnancy–that’s certainly an interesting slogan, and I guess they can’t get in trouble for false advertising…I’m not currently planning a trip there, but was still cool to see the pictures and read about the different options.

  14. Wow, that’s a very thorough list, kudos! We have yet to visit Thailand, but if we’re ever in Bangkok we’re definitely checking out a few (if not all) of those places – although the Wine Pub is the closest to our speed 🙂 Good luck!

  15. Love the wine bar already! Looks more like France than Bangkok though 🙂 Have been to Bangkok but was too overwhelmed by everything else to discover its nightlife. Maybe next time?

  16. Really enjoyed this post and with Bangkok so high on my list, i’ll be keeping this on the favourites for later!

  17. Octave is prob the best one mentioned. I am surprised “Long Table” didn’t get a mention, that’s another good rooftop, and it has a pool.

  18. Heyy…gr8 article. I am looking for a rooftop bar n restaurant to visit with my wife in feb’15. It should be with a great view but without burning a hole in my pocket. which one would u suggest. I will be staying in the Sukhumvit area.

  19. Those places have fantastic views and yes they are free to enter. Unfortunately in most of them it’s compulsory to buy a drink (which is understandable) until you look at the menu and realise that a small beer costs a small fortune.

  20. That’s some list Pete & Sam, thanks. I’ve been to the Moon Bar, that was good, but I want to try Cloud 47 and next time I will, hopefully in a couple of months!

  21. Love the sky bar scene in Bangkok! Our favorite is Red Sky they have buy one get one happy hour deals every day of the week, that is our go to bar in Bangkok! Thanks for some new ones for us to check out in April when we are back in BKK.

  22. Hi, thanks for this awesome selection !

I think Octave (Marriott Sukhumvit) is my favorite so far.

To be honest we hated Skybar (and the Lebua Hotel in general), way overpriced for the service and the quality of the drinks. After all, you get amazing views from other rooftops in Bangkok too ..

    Have a nice day
    Sophie

  23. We head to Bangkok for the first time in just over six weeks so I have found this just at the right time. We are looking forward to seeing some great views across the skyline and I have to say you have caught my attention with the Wine Pub as this is one I have not heard of before.
