Toronto
Often seen as a ‘cleaner New York’, this sprawling metropolis is great for anyone wanting to taste Canadian city life.
It’s become a melting pot of culture, and has a lot of art and theatre to offer those looking for a cultivating trip.
You can also take a trip up the enormous CN Tower, once the largest building in the world. The mighty skyscraper towers 553 metres and dominates the skyline, becoming Toronto’s best known landmark.
Niagara Falls
Quite possibly the world’s most famous waterfall, Niagara is actually three waterfalls all joining up and flowing at a rate of 2,400 metres per second.
The falls straddle the US/Canadian border and are a short trip from Toronto (if you visit one you’ve got to visit the other!).
It’s recommended that you take a Maid of the Mist boat tour and see the falls up close and personal. The natural wonder is also accompanied by a kooky theme park-esque town where you can get food and a drink. Check out this Niagara Falls hotel for where to stay!
Whistler
This expansive ski resort is a must for anyone looking to carve up the slopes in Canada. It’s by far the biggest resort the country has to offer and has runs catering for skiiers and snowboarders of all abilities.
Of all the ski locations, it also offers the finest lodging, including cosy condos and a huge selection of hotels. Even if you’re not a fan of the pistes, the village of Whistler is still a great place for its restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities.
Quebec
If you want to practice your French, go to Quebec. The French-speaking province offers some of Canada’s most beautiful landscapes and oldest settlements.
There are more ski resorts here, hiking treks and the chance to see lots of moose. Its capital, Quebec City, is like a taste of Europe in North America.
It has many markets and a rich food culture. A massive hotel built in the 1800s named Chateau Frontenac overlooks the water, among one of the most popular sightseeing attractions.
Vancouver
This tourist hotspot on the water has been voted ‘greatest place to live in the world’ multiple times. Its mix of urban and greenery make it a paradise for people of all walks of life. It’s also got an extensive selection of restaurants of all cultures and a cosmopolitan population.
Not too far away are the Rocky mountains, where you can take in breath-taking views and maybe even catch a glimpse of bear or two.
Situated overlooking the Pacific, you also have all the benefits of the sea, whether you want to go for a boat ride or just take a walk along the promenade.
